Chokers came back onto the jewellery scene about two years ago in big way. They were first made popular in the 90’s- think My So Called Life fashion. Having disappeared they are back but with a millennial twist. From tattoo chokers, to lace-up collars, there is lots to choose from.
It’s true that the shops have been inundated with chokers. Many people find some styles confusing to wear and worry that they’ll look ‘too young’. (Ahem!)
Chosen correctly and styled thoughtfully though, chokers are fashion-forward and can instantly update your look. Many can even look elegant and without even a whiff of the whole dog-collar look!
Go for the boho look by pairing your choker with a floaty dress, and add ankle boots. If you’re wearing a pared back look like jeans, a denim jacket and a simple tee, a choker will instantly make the whole look more interesting.
Tie It Yourself
The diy rope choker was one of the newest versions of the choker- a length of velveteen or soft leather that you tie yourself. This choker is a great way to freshen up a smart shirt or crew neck top and look a bit more cool and relaxed. You can wrap it two or three times to create the choker, and then either add a bow or simply knot it and let the lengths hang loose. It’s great also with a crew neck soft sweater and jeans. Or add it to a dress for a night out- it’s so versatile which is why we love it.

Day to Night
The Fiore Choker is our version of a henna-tattoo style choker. This is more of a traditional choker shape as it sits around the neck. You can make the clasp loose to sit at the base of the neck (rather than around the throat) to soften the look. We love the elegance of the Fiore Choker, and the softness of the lace. This is a choker that adds instant glam to any outfit- wear it in the daytime with a grey cashmere jumper and jeans and people will soon ask you where you got it from! Pair it with a bold block colour at night time to add interest to your look.

Chokers are the perfect accessory for layering necklaces with, giving an overall softer look. Add an interesting pendant to an off- the- shoulder top, or layer it with a long chain and then a delicate pendant for a boho look. This a great way to create a statement which is the focal point to your look.
